Ginny Macdonald Design is a full-service residential interior design firm based in Los Angeles, California, specialising in comprehensive renovations, furnishing & decor projects and select small-scale commercial design.

Our design team has the skills and experience to oversee the most extensive of home builds, remodels, and furnishing projects. We work closely with contractors, architects, and local craftspeople to bring new life to historic homes and infuse new builds with enduring character. Each home is thoughtfully and intentionally designed from initial concepts and drawings to final installation and styling. Every vignette is tailored to the client’s personal style and needs, while remaining authentic to the home’s original identity. We primarily offer our in-person design services in Southern California, however we will take on a limited number of remote projects nationwide and in the UK
Our Service
Full Service Construction Design—This service is primarily for clients who are remodeling their existing home or building from the ground up. We guide our clients through the entire process, fusing their unique style with our design direction to create a bespoke layered scheme with a focus on comfort and visual interest.
Full Furnishing—This service is for clients who need help furnishing an already existing home or can be an addition to the Full Service Construction Design. We source, order, manage and install all the pieces including paint and wallpaper selections, custom furniture and window treatments, lighting, art and accessories.
The Expert Consultation
This service is for clients who would like access to Ginny’s expertise without the full-service commitment. This is a virtual consultation carried out over zoom with an option of a 25 or 55 minute session. The time is yours to use in whatever way is most helpful and Ginny can guide you on a range of topics from space planning and furniture placement to materials selections and interior styling. It is advised that you provide as much information as possible through the portal as this allows for maximum efficiency on the call. Repeat sessions are also an option.
About Ginny
Ginny’s architecture-forward design perspective can be traced back to her English roots. Ginny grew up in the North of England, surrounded by a rich architectural history, heritage landscapes and a ton of visual inspiration. Right out of high school, she took a job with an architecture company in her hometown, followed by studying Interior Architectural Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. After graduating, she honed her skills at various companies in Manchester and London, where she learned to create experiential spaces for commercial projects. In 2013, Ginny moved to LA and worked alongside Emily Henderson for several years before launching her own studio in 2018.
Ginny's unique approach to design is informed by the two places she calls home—England and California. She brings old world sophistication and effortless liveability to every home she designs.
Ginny’s background of diverse experiences has given her a certain versatility that has earned her a reputation as a designer who delivers on form and function. She is intimately involved in each of her projects, working with clients one-on-one and completing all the drawings in-house.
She currently lives in West Hollywood with her two very cheeky, scruffy rescue dogs Gatsby and Rufus.
